My paintings are journals of my life-long fascination with color, form, texture and shape. Artistic moments revealing themselves in the contour of a child’s face, a fleeting cloud formation or the color of wind swept grasses.
As a representational painter it is my goal to portray the simple beauty of my subject and how they fit into the world. The edges, the reflections, and the shadows, the art is in the relationships.
After working as a medical illustrator and an architectural designer I was fortunate to study and hone my skills illustrating the figure and how to best understand color, texture and shape.
I work from what I know. The children that I love and the personalities that I meet become my subjects. To know who I’m painting enables me not only to render but also to incorporate what I preserve as my subjects’ character into the painting.
